This Is a Private Reference. Newark Residents Directory is not a government office or records custodian. It cannot retrieve files, certify copies, verify a current household, or remove a name from an official system. For an emergency call 911. If someone is being stalked or harassed, contact Newark Police or another appropriate local authority.
Find the Office That Holds the Record
The quickest route depends on the record type. Use the directory pages for orientation, then contact the actual custodian for a copy, inspection request, certification, or correction.
- Street ownership and parcel clues: use the Newark Street Directory for the Assessor, GIS, permits, and deed chain.
- Past directory volumes: use the Newark Directory Book for library, museum, census, and regional-directory paths.
- One person or name match: use the Newark Resident Lookup for official cross-checks and access limits.
- Municipal records: send a request under the California Public Records Act instructions to the City of Newark.
- Records held outside the city: contact the Alameda County Clerk-Recorder, Assessor, Superior Court, or Registrar of Voters named in the relevant workflow.

Police reports are not automatically public. The Newark police report request form can require a qualifying connection, a $10 fee, and valid identification at pickup. The City Clerk's public-records channel accepts verbal, email, phone, and in-person requests, and the City need only locate an existing responsive record.
